Steven Shippey

I'm a full time tattoo artist, and father living in Sacramento, CA. I started tattooing in my homeland of New Zealand, before moving to Sydney, Australia where I continued tattooing in a busy street shop. I'm a firm believer that travel broadens the mind and widens our horizons, so in 2005 I moved to London, traveled the world and furthered my education in the art and history of tattooing for the next 2 years. While on vacation, touring around USA, I met, and got tattooed by Colten Smith of Phoenix Arizona. We became close friends and traveled up through California meeting amazing people and artists. It was after meeting the crew from Modern Body Tattoo in Sacramento that I realized my potential and become more inspired and determined than ever to be a well rounded artist. I relocated to Sacramento in 2008, during which time I've also worked at custom studios in Davis and San Francisco.

Tattoo Style: I love doing most styles of tattoos. I like to do tattoos that are original, interesting and fun. For me that can be anything from a small colour butterfly or line work flower, to a back piece.I especially enjoy doing realism, new skool/cartoony, horror, and illustrative designs. I don't do Traditional American, or Traditional Japanese tattoos, purely because there are specific design rules involved that I do not specialize in. I do Japanese-ish and Neo-Traditional-esque but with my style put on them.
